The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One is preparing design plans to widen approximately 7.7 miles of US 27 from north of I-4 to US 192 in Polk County, Florida.

Currently the four-lane divided highway (two lanes in each direction) US 27, will be widened to six lanes (three lanes in each direction) from north of I-4 to US 192.

The project has been divided into two segments. Segment 1 is from north of I-4 to Barry Road and is a length of 3.6 miles. Segment 2 begins at the north end of Segment 1 and continues north to US 192 and is a length of 4.1 miles.
