US 27 will be a six-lane rural roadway with three, 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, 5-foot
paved outside shoulders, which could accommodate bicyclists, and 5-foot sidewalks in each direction.
All four existing lanes will be preserved and widening will occur to the outside.
The existing four-lane bridge with shoulders over US 192 will be replaced. The proposed typical
section will provide enough room to replace the existing shoulders, add the proposed lane and
a 5-foot sidewalk.
The existing right-of-way width will be adequate for the proposed widening. Swales on both sides
of the road will accommodate the stormwater runoff inside the existing right-of-way. No offsite
ponds are anticipated.
